About the Role
Are you passionate about your profession, can you handle complexity, distil out and explain key concepts? In this role you will be able to take the actuarial system landscape to the next level as product owner and head of the development of our new data repository and reserving system. You will work with a team of highly professional IT experts and Actuaries to manage and develop the Life actuarial systems for Switzerland.
What you will do
Zurich Switzerland is currently replacing the current Life Actuarial reserving and database system with a new system
In this role, your main task is to develop the new actuarial system which includes:
- Leading the cross-functional implementation team as Product Owner and giving actuarial guidance and advice throughout the process
- Interface with IT, operations and business that supports the process
- Ensure a timely, within budget and generally successful implementation
You will also manage legacy systems support for the current system
You lead the Actuarial systems team with three permanent team members
Requirements
Completed university degree in mathematics, physics, statistics or similar
Relevant experience, ideally in actuarial pricing or reserving.
A candidate should bring at least five years of experience, especially considering the required seniority as it is a team lead position. The employee will be in touch with various internal stakeholder groups. Therefore, we need someone who is a good communicator, can defend their point of view and push for the implementation of the new system to progress.
Experience with R, SQL and C is highly beneficial
Strong managerial skills and experience and a high level of commitment to execution
Impact, credibility and ability to influence on the Swiss Business Unit level
Experience and interest in working in an agile project environment
Technical and analytical skills to a high level
Do candidates have to be qualified actuaries? - No. This is a plus but not a must have.
However, we cannot consider candidates with e.g. solely IT or Banking backgrounds without the technical skills. For example, an IT profile without actuarial qualification but with strong technical skills (e.g. R, SQL, Python) and certain insurance experience and leadership skills could work.
Someone lacking strong technical actuarial skills (as well as the actuarial qualification) but who has strong experience in areas such as insurance administration, underwriting or similar + leadership skills could also be an option.
